Apollo first xBase engine to support Microsoft .NET

Vista Software prepares Apollo to support Microsoft .NET becoming
the first xBase engine for the .NET platform

LA JOLLA, Calif. – December 17th, 2001 – Vista Software today announced plans
to support Microsoft .NET with its new Apollo 6 xBase database engine.

“Microsoft .NET is clearly gaining momentum with developers worldwide and
we want to be first to deliver an xBase data engine for this powerful new
platform,” stated Anthony Carrabino, President and CEO of Vista Software.

According to Carrabino, demand and inquiries for .NET support has been steadily
increasing over the past year. The company believes that .NET will become the
dominant development platform in coming years.

“.NET's new CLR technology makes development interchangeable for VB.NET and
C#.NET users,” stated Med Shakeri, Vice President and CTO of Vista Software.
 
The company is working with .NET power-users in getting the design and 
architecture correct. No official release date has been set, but a mid-year
release was hinted with release previews early than that. Firm pricing has not
been set, but Carrabino stated that the pricing will be in-keeping with the
other Apollo products $350 to $450 range. The company has created a newsgroup
